Il mirtillo rosso americano (Vaccinium macrocarpon) è un arbusto appartenente alla famiglia delle Ericacee diffuso nel Nord America. In particolare vive nelle foreste e nelle zone paludose degli Stati Uniti. Il mirtillo rosso (Vaccinium macrocarpon) contiene principi attivi che agiscono contro i germi che causano infezioni al tratto urinario. In particolare le bacche di mirtillo rosso (cranberry) contengono proantocianidine e antocianine, flavonoidi responsabili dell’effetto antibatterico.
Cranberry complex di Jamieson contiene un estratto concentrato di mirtillo rosso. Il prodotto è potenziato con d-mannosio, un monosaccaride in grado di interferire con l’adesione microbica. Mirtillo rosso e d-mannosio lavorano insieme per inibire l’adesione di batteri alla parete della vescica e del tratto urinario.
